Cable Chains and Cable Harnessing

Now automated industries rely heavily on their complex cabling systems – delivering more than just power. But of course, there is no one size fits all when it comes to each customer who each will have different requirements to connect to a single piece of equipment. It creates a need for cable harnessing or cable chains with multiple benefits for the user. This is to process of binding cables together to create a single cabling solution. Cable harnessing allows the user the get the best of a supply of cables, built to with your industry in mind whether it is robotics, food and beverage, automation, lighting or energy.

The first things that comes to mind is health and safety. When you bind loose cables together, the system immediately becomes safer and more secure, particularly in busy working environments. When you bind cables, they can be much easier to manage, also ensuring their own security away from testing conditions.

Harnessed cables will most likely come from the same supplier. It means that all cables will have come under the same testing standards for quality control. All elements have come from the same supplier making things very simple for installation. Naturally, when you’re purchasing more cables from the same supplier, it can be more cost effective than purchasing various cables from several suppliers. An important point to note is not all cables share the same warranty and it can be very difficult to keep a record of each cables warranty date, particularly when cables aren’t labelled in the same manner. There is also the possibility that harnessing inferior cables alongside superior can still affect the integrity of the higher quality product.

However, by binding the right cables together, you generally have stronger application which is more resistant to breakages. By using a non-flexing assembly, there is less chance of short circuit occurring. Optionally, you can also look to use fire resistant materials as specialist cable harnessing solutions will often cater the product especially with the customer in mind.
